Community health guidelines on COVID-19
Swift and rigid preventive action from the government was definitely instrumental in controlling the COVID-19 presence in the Cayman Islands and in consistently maintaining a “low level” status since the onset of the pandemic in early 2020.
On top of this, vaccination rollout has already begun in the islands, keeping people optimistic about seeing the country reopen its borders soon, albeit with great prudence and precaution.
In Grand Cayman, where Seven Mile Beach is located, current public health regulations has kept the island on Suppression Level 2 or Minimal Suppression. Community health guidelines stipulate wearing a mask or face covering in particular public places such as healthcare facilities, residential care home facilities, airports, taxis, omnibuses, and any other place deemed so by the Medical Officer for Health. In other locations, mask wearing is optional.
For public gatherings, no more than 500 people can assemble indoors and no more than 1,000 outdoors (including beaches).
Educational institutions, vacation camps, and childcare facilities have also opened under public health guidance, as with business activities and banking services.
Similarly, outdoors sports and exercise activities, going to the beach, using boats, diving and snorkeling, and similar activities are permitted as long as prescribed safety guidelines are followed.
Bars and restaurants have resumed normal operation hours for both indoor and outdoor services, and so have supermarkets, pharmacies, healthcare facilities, and other basic services.
The public, however, is advised to continue taking preventive measures such as practicing social distancing, frequent handwashing, and isolating if feeling unwell.
